Louis Vuitton goes whimsical

Now this, ladies and gentlemen, is a fashion show. If this vintage merry-go-round doesn't make you want this collection, I'm not sure what else will. This was a perfectly executed show and a perfectly tailored collection. Using lots of lace, innocent shades of pinks, blues and yellows, and old-fashioned styling, I adore every bit of it. Oh, and each one of the horses' hooves were stamped with an "LV" monogram. Talk about great attention to detail.

How beautiful is this?

Wouldn't this make a great Halloween costume? Wishful thinking...

Photoset: The 1st Annual LSS Awards! (Fashion Coverage)

On Saturday, October 1st I attended the first annual Love From the Sound Stage Awards at Spectrum Theatre. I went to the event not really knowing what to expect, especially since this show was the first of its kind. However, the LSS Awards turned out to be very entertaining and was nothing short of a beautiful showcase honoring talented artists and professionals in the Washington, D.C. area.

Before delving into the fashion, here’s a little background on what LSS is all about. Love from the Sound Stage is a live entertainment production firm that organizes weekly shows and annual concerts, allowing up-and-coming artists to display their talent to the public. The award show serves to acknowledge the hard work of those who perform at their productions. This year’s award show also paid homage to Jeannie Jones, radio personality and community activist for 93.9 WKYS.

While waiting for the show to start, I spoke with a few vendors who were set up in an area outside of the theatre.

Here are the designers of Jazzy Jewelz, which is an online jewelry boutique. If you love jewelry that is colorful, bold and multi-faceted, this company is for you!

There were also representatives from Shimyer International showing off their accessories. They have stores in Georgetown and Bowie, MD.

Next to the vendors, there was a bar full of sweets!

Lovely ladies of the LSS staff helping to put it all together!

Now on to the red carpet...

All of the nominees looked great in their Grammy attire! I saw several stunning dresses on the women and fabulous suits on the men. Black, white and hues of blue and grey were common.

The red carpet host wore a bright and beautiful yellow cocktail dress with a gorgeous shade of pink on her lips.

Here’s KAS the Designer looking suave with his date (above). Congratulations to him and his team for winning in the category of “Best Fashion Designer!”

Fellow Fashion Blogger and Stylist @FashionCitizen dapper in all black!

Natasha Brown (above), President of Think Brown Ink (@ThinkBrownInk). She’s a DC area PR pro and was nominated for “Rising Business of the Year.” Loving her glamourous dress and hair cut!

Lastly, here is the crowd favorite, by far, for best-dressed! She rightfully earned the nickname of “Beyonce” for the night!

Her dress was even more sparkly in person : )

Congratulations to all of the nominees and winners of the LSS Awards! I am looking forward to next year’s event, which I’m sure will be even bigger and better!

Christina Ricci and Pan Am, Plus Upcoming Events

First and foremost... Things have been crazy busy lately so please excuse my recent absence!! I'm finally back in the swing of things and am so excited about some of the latest fashion news and upcoming events that I will be attending!

PAN AM

Top: Moschino
Shorts: ASOS

Christina Ricci looks gorgeous on the cover of NYLON for their September 2011. This shoot served to promote her new show, "Pan Am" which premiered on ABC on Sunday. As an early 20th century history buff and lover of vintage fashion, I definitely tuned in to the premiere... if not for the plot, for the clothes and hairstyles. Christina plays Maggie, a Pan Am stewardess. I was presently surprised to find out that the show was actually intriguing! I'm looking forward to next week's episode!

Wishful thinking...

Here's a picture of Bryan Boy's invites to NYFW!!! Can this be me in a couple of years??

Please?

The Start of NYFW

It's everyone's favorite time of the year! Well, everyone in the fashion industry at least (oh, and those of us who love football!!). Yesterday kicked off the start of NYFW (and the start of the NFL season) and I am very excited to see what trends will surface this time around. Here's a portion of BCBG's (Max Azria) Spring 2012 shoe collection all lined up before their show! Aren't they pretty?

The line is flowly, feminine and  geometrically daring all at the same time. The pieces from this collection are not my favorite (and I probably wouldn't be able to confidently wear any of them seeing as though I'm super short), but nonetheless, the colors and shapes of the dresses/pants are beautiful.

What do you think?

FASHION INSPIRATION

I recently photographed a dear friend of mine who happens to be an actor and model in the Charlotte area. He is currently a Communications and Performance major at The University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and is a Public Relations intern at a non-profit organization called Bella Love. While this is by no means a professional photography session, Antony Bernard looks great in an outfit by GAP and shoes by Kenneth Cole. Antony will be participating in a number of upcoming fashion shows, plays, and films in the near future. Follow him on his journey here: @AntonyBernard1

Sunglasses: Boris & Natasha
