Vision Boards x Hot Chocolate

All of the craziness of the holidays is just about dying down as we look forward to the new year. I for one am excited about what 2013 will bring. I truly believe that positivity is the best gift you can give yourself, especially in this uncertain, trying world we live in. Vision boards are great tools to use in order to create positivity in your life and track goals! I made one last year and I couldn't believe that it actually worked! One day I decided to sit down and cut out pictures of the things I wanted: (1) more money, (2) my own place, (3) a healthier lifestyle; etc... (very typical "new year's resolutions). I pasted them on a piece of large construction paper and wrote captions for all of the pictures. I didn't  pray over the vision board or meditate or do any ritual with it. I didn't even hang it up. Every now and then, I just picked it up and looked at it to remind myself of the things I was working toward. It didn't hit me until this month that majority of those pictures have become "real-life pictures" for me. I think there is some type of universal, metaphysical power in narrowing down your goals and putting them on paper.

So that's what I'm doing tonight. Thinking of 4-6 goals I want to accomplish in 2013 and cutting out pictures that represent these goals while sipping on hot coco and listening to uplifting and romantic music : ) You should try it! What are YOUR goals? What's your vision?

Ok, I'm done being Oprah now... Happy Holidays!

xoxo,

Alessandra

Gucci x Blake

I've been on a blogging hiatus for a while, but it feels so good to be back! : ) I pray that all of you have had an amazing start to the holiday season! Below I've embedded the gorgeous Blake Lively in her stunning Gucci debut. I love Gucci's fragrances and I'm sure the Gucci Premiere fragrance is nothing short of sensual.

fashion x home decor

Fashion and home decor definitely go hand in hand. I will be moving in about a week and am super excited about decorating my first apartment! So much so that I've been losing sleep over what color curtains I'll purchase and whether my dining room table will be wood or glass. A little much? Possibly, but there really is nothing like moving into your first place!

My original idea for my apartment's color scheme was to go with light neutrals and bold golds with coral and/or pink accents. The fashion gods confirmed my plan. I was so inspired when I saw Alexandre Vauthier's Couture 2012 collection. Now I have a pretty good idea of how I will want my apartment to look. Take a look at some of the pieces from his collection and some corresponding photos of some beautiful homes decorated in whites and golds. (These outfits also remind me of Great Britain's 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony outfits, no?)

Excited for The Great Gatsby?

I am. I haven't read the book or anything (I'm planing to!), but I am very excited about the setting and therefore the fashion. Early 20th century fashion exudes class and prominence. Take a look at the trailer to see what I mean...

Fashion Inspiration

Even though it's been abnormally hot, extremely muggy and really stormy lately (at least in the DC area), I am still inspired by these cheerful outfits put together by one of my favorite bloggers. Check out these summery 'fits from her site

Fab Body Factory's Nails and Dumbbells Event

On Monday, June 11th, dozens of women in the DMV met at the Fab Body Factory in Upper Marlboro, MD for mixing, mingling, manicures, and massages! This was really a fun event! Gift bags were raffled off (I actually won one of these bags, complete with nail polish, workout gear, and lots of gift cards!) and one lucky lady won an amazing pair of Nike sneakers. If you haven't already checked out Deanna Jefferson and her fitness and lifestyle company, the Fab Body Factory, please do so! Check out the pics below (and please excuse the picture quality!):

Me and Milo Ferragamo, both wearing purple : )

Celebrity jewelry designer Deborah Mdurvwa was there, selling lots of latest line. She's worked with celebrities like Lil' Mo, Maya, and Tracy DiMarco, just to name a few! Check out her designs below, visit her website and be sure to follow her: @Mdurvwa

These were dubbed the "Pink Friday" editions by Deborah's customers! They were in my gift bag and I can't wait to wear them.

There was also a meditation session where everyone sat still for about 10 minutes and meditated on life and body image. It was extremely relaxing.

"Let No Love Fall Victim to Circumstance"

I recently watched a breathtaking movie called "Circumstance" - thanks to Netflix! I have been wanting to watch "Circumstance" for a while and finally got the chance to do so last week. The movie is about two Iranian women existing in a stringent cultural reality that doesn't fully permit them to be themselves (I think we can all relate to this dilemma at some point in our lives). The story beautifully unfolds at the perfect pace, allowing the viewer to catch every glare, every touch, every glance, and every intricacy. The two young women fall deeply in love, but must go out of their way to repress their feelings amidst other looming family and societal issues. Go and get this movie, watch it and let me know how you like it!

How amazing is this photo?? I love the masculine look on women!

Beyonce

I've heard some good comments and some bad comments about Beyonce's Givenchy haute couture gown at last night's Met Gala. Personally, I LOVED it! Beyonce is daring, bold, and is always commanding attention. The dress she wore appropriately does the same. Why would we expect anything less of Queen B? She wore the artsy, revealing dress extremely well. And it is the Met Gala... an event like this calls for DRAMA : )

Caviar Manicure by Ciaté

Nail trends over the past few years have been crazy. Long gone are the days of a simple french mani and pedi. While browsing fashionista.com I came across a post about the new DIY Caviar Manicure by Ciaté. I am still a little unsure about whether I will partake in this trend, which will soon be available at Sephora. What do you think?

glitter.

I love the little bottle of joy that came in my Birchbox this month. The new Essie Luxeffects collection is gorgeous!

I am usually not one for flashy nail colors... I like soft pinks, nudes, and dark blues and blacks. Yea, I'm pretty boring when it comes to nails... But surprisingly this glittery polish looked amazing on. AND, if you're like me and aren't really that great at giving yourself the perfect manicure, this polish allows some room for (minor) error. Unlike regular polish, it doesn't have to go on perfectly to resemble a salon manicure.

The color I'm sporting now is the "a cut above" shade (shattered pink diamond glitz).
